We had a very nice show just now, sort of in the corner next to a market. The audiences here do not usually sing or clap along, but are VERY appreciative. Everywhere we stop to sing, we gather a crowd. You should have heard the applause after NW Passage. Wow. These folks are here to listen to music, and no mistake.
We were on the radio this morning, a live broadcast that actually had excellent sound - we hope to get a link or recording or something. It was outside, such a beautiful day here, and there were people standing EVERYWHERE all over this square. We were the last group to go, and after the show ended they asked us to sing one more. Everyone in the crowd applauded that and cheered!!
I donät know how possible this will be, but we got a very flattering offer to sing at a festival in Poland - and shanties are huge there. The show would be in February, which is a slow time for Bounding Main … well the crew shall have to have many discussions of this, but we will see. Wow anyway!!
We are starting to learn phrases in German. Mine is : I am hungry and I want cake. Well, it turns out those words are quite challenging, at least for me personallz. Wohlers got some … interesting … footage of me trying to learn from some very patient German women.

Cake is actually one of only a handful of words I can pronounce in German and only because it’s in my current show. They talk about having kaffee und kuchen in the afternoon. So, of course, I had to look kuchen up because it sounded like something I could make for rehearsal. As you probably guessed or know kaffe (pron. “cafe”) und kuchen (pron. kooken” is coffee and cake - and it’s a German tradition in the afternoon sort of like tea time in England. You should be all set! There are even cafes that specialize in it. Of course kuchen can mean any kind of cake… But it’s CAKE hopw can you go wrong?!? Personally I’d kill for some Black Forest cake.
Wow Poland shanty fest….I wonder if it’s similar to the one the Jolly Rogers did several years back. There were pics of them caught in a snow blizzard. but y’all should still be fortified against a foot of snow
Hey guys … just saw/heard you sing various times at the Maritim Festival in Vegesack. Loved it. Isn’t the festival a blast? I was there for the first time last year and HAD TO come back this year. You should SO try to make Poland happen. They have the most amazing musicians. Check out “Hambawenah” - they rocked FESTIVAL MARITIM last year.
However, here are some shots of you you may like. Well, I do. Enjoy and feel free to use them.
“Thank you for the music” … - how about a cover version of that one? Muha muha j/k :p

Maggie: Ich habe Hunger und ich will Kuchen.
Ooh, pictures! Huzzah! I particularly like the long landscape-format one with Dean between the Twinz. The Bully in the Alley shots are also fun. =)
Poland? I may have to convince you all to raffle off an extra seat. I hope you all can go back to Europe!
